The BMW 6 Series was introduced for the 2004 model year as BMW's grand touring coupe and convertible line, positioned above the 5 Series and offering a blend of luxury, performance, and long-distance touring capability. The second-generation 6 Series, known internally as the E63 for the coupe and E64 for the convertible, was produced from 2003 through 2010. For 2012, the 6 Series entered its third generation, known as the F12 for the convertible and F13 for the coupe. The 650i featured BMW's 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, delivering strong performance while combining the luxury and technology expected from BMW's flagship grand touring models. The 6 Series convertible also featured a power-operated soft top, allowing drivers to enjoy open-air motoring while retaining the comfort and refinement of a luxury grand touring car.
