The London Taxi is on the most iconic vehicles of Great Britain, even more so over Jaguar or McLaren. This taxi design was built on the Austin Motor Car's FX4 Model from 1958-1997. The Exterior style had little change, to keep that vintage beauty & iconic styling. If you are looking for a different kind of vehicle, one that stands out and is V8 powered, then this is the Taxi Street-Rod for you!
This London Taxi managed to find it way across the ocean all the way to Florida, were it was driven and left to rot in the backyard of a gentleman in North Florida ... until a hot summer day in 2024, the owner of this 1965 Austin FX4 (London Taxi), wicked it up onto a trailer and broth it to his hoke in DeBary, Florida. For the next 2yrs, He would cut, fabricate, weld and reshape this FX4 into a new vision with that Iconic styling design. This 1965 Austin FX4 has NEW Metal from front to back & painted in a Bright GM Blue with Black Steel Wheels. The Headlights have been updated to modern LED Jeep Headlights to brighten the roads while traveling at night.
Originally, these taxi's where Right-Hand Drive and had just one seat in the front,; making more room for passenger's & their luggage. But if this was going to be made into a street rod, it was going to need a redesign to the interior front section. The owner fabricated a new steel dash and converted this Right-Hand Drive to a more American Left-Hand Drive with a 1989 GM Tilt Steering Column & Wood-Grain Steering Wheel. The Interior is fitted with Modern amenities, like Sirius XM Radio & Classic Auto Air Condition. The Seating has been upgraded to plush Cadillac Leather w/ Front Powered adjust seating.
As a Taxi: power was not at the center point, but having a good reliable and economical engine was a must. However, when it comes to building an American Street-Rod ... a V8 always sounds like a great idea! That's why there is a Buick 6.6L 401ci Nailhead stuffed inside the engine bay! And it fits perfectly, providing this 1965 Austin Taxi a true V8 heartbeat! Fitted with a GM 4BBL Carb, Power Steering & Front Powered Disc Brakes.
