CONDITION
This 1964 Studebaker "Super Lark" R1 is an extremely clean convertible with just 4,909 miles showing on the odometer. The car presents like a very low-mile example from top to bottom, including a clean overall appearance down to the frame. It wears a gold/tan-toned finish that looks remarkably consistent throughout and shows very well. The car was originally Bermuda Brown and has since been repainted in its current gold color. It was also registered with the Studebaker Club in 2020 as Bermuda Brown. We were told at the time of purchase that it was believed to be one of a very limited number of police R1 convertible versions and that it spent decades displayed in a museum. Supporting VIN/build-sheet details and full originality are best verified by the buyer or a marque expert. The R1 engine is not supercharged. It is a naturally aspirated 289-cubic-inch V8 rated at roughly 240 horsepower. The engine in the car is believed to be a swapped 259 or 289 V8. The water pump has started clicking and will need to be replaced. The headlights stopped working after the car was cleaned and will need attention. The black soft top works properly and does not leak, though its operation has started to slow down. Overall, this is a very nice, low-mile showing Studebaker convertible that presents in excellent condition.
