Description:

1931 Ford Model A Rumble-seat Roadster

This Model A was purchased 30 some odd years ago, when the owner was just a young chap of 65. He drove the car quite a bit back then however, over the years it's been less and less.

He seems to recall that about 20 years ago he restored the car and just a few years ago, he had the engine rebuilt. The odometer was reset at that point and shows only 214 miles.

As one walks around this classic antique, you can see the show car still there.

The interior is in very good condition, with just some minor pitting on some chrome bits that would polish up with tinfoil and soda and a little deep cleaning would bring it right back to show winning status. In his ownership, the car has always been inside, albeit an uninsulated garage.

The tires are several years old but still have the yellow "soap" on the outside. The engine is still freshly painted as is the entire undercarriage, these aspects would take very little to bring back to AACA show standards. The rumble seat is also in great condition and operates smoothly, a fender cover is also included so as to not scratch the paint when climbing in.

Unfortunately, where things slip is the tan paint. It is chipped and even peeling in a couple spots. The red trim paint is still shiny and solid and the black fenders, aside from a couple small chips, are ready to be buffed back to show shine. I believe that the tan areas could be masked at the red trim, sanded and repainted for a whole lot less than pulling the car apart to paint it in entirety. This would bring the car back to it's heyday.

However, even in it's current condition, when fully detailed and polished, would still garner looks at the local cars and coffee or in parades, etc.

On the day I photographed and drove the car, it was only about 25-30 degrees, so she was slow to start and run. I did get her up and running but didn't want to chance a drive down the street with a vehicle currently not registered (there is registration that comes with the car as CT ownership documentation, but just not current through 2025-2026.)

The headlights work and the horn works, the vacuum wiper does too. The cowl lights were turned into blinkers, however the switch inside is currently not hooked up. This car also came with the two optional tail lights, the optional luggage rack and side mount spare tire.

The cloth cover on the spare is in good condition but could use some cleaning. The cloth soft top is also in very good condition.

In moving the car around the yard, the 3 speed transmission shifts easily, clutch grabs nicely and the brakes works as they should too.

Aside from the aforementioned chipped tan paint, this car is just on the brink of being show ready. Current Market Pricing on a #3 Model A roadster is generally around $16,000

Asking price is $13,800

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest!
