1957 Ford Thunderbird For Sale
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible is finished in its factory-correct Coral Sanda color Ford offered for only one year - paired with its body-color porthole hardtop. It has had just four owners from new and comes with excellent documentation, including the original sales paperwork from its first purchase in Los Angeles, the original owner's manual, and a collection of routine maintenance receipts from its years in California and Florida. The third owner had the transmission professionally rebuilt in 2016, and the fourth owner acquired the car from California in 2017 and had it shipped to his home in Florida. In 2019, the Thunderbird received a new canvas soft top.
In 2021, after the car was moved to Pennsylvania, it underwent a significant round of mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment, highlighted by it's original 312 V8 engine rebuilt with electronic fuel injection. The engine overhaul included a new 312 high-lift camshaft, solid valve lifters, pushrods, and oil pump, along with a new timing chain, cam and crank sprockets, and timing gear key. The work continued with a full engine gasket kit, a harmonic balancer seal repair sleeve, and a new rear transmission seal. Both the front and rear engine mounts were replaced, as were the steady-rest grommets and hardware, and the engine was refinished in proper Ford Red/Orange. The cooling system received a 170-degree thermostat, a 6-blade fixed fan, and fresh gaskets, while the heater system benefited from a new heater core, gasket set, heater air chamber, heater valve, blower motor, and the dash control cable. Electrical updates included a remanufactured 12-volt starter and drive, an Ignitor 57 electronic ignition conversion, a tach-drive distributor and coil, a temperature sender, and a new dash wiring harness grommet. The exhaust system was renewed with fresh manifold gaskets and a complete aluminized exhaust including piping, muffler, clamps, and hangers.
Steering and suspension updates included a new power steering idler arm with fresh upper and lower bushings, plus a new piston rod end bushing kit. The drivetrain was serviced with new front and rear universal joints, a new transmission output boot, and a driving pinion oil seal. The rear brakes were refreshed with U.S.-made drums, new shoes, hardware, a new flexible hose, and brake line gaskets. The body was fitted with new body-to-frame mounting hardware, including J-nuts and washers, and the interior received a new glove box.
