1972 Triumph TR6 Convertible For Sale
This 1972 Triumph TR6 Convertible finished in yellow with a manually operated black soft top and matching snap-down cover. This example is powered by its 2.5-liter inline-six with dual Stromberg carburetors, paired to a four-speed manual transmission equipped with the desirable electronic overdrive. The electronic overdrive was an optional upgrade not found on all TR6s - it reduces RPMs at highway speeds, improving fuel economy, reducing engine wear, and making the car far more comfortable for long-distance driving compared to non-OD examples.
The car was reportedly refreshed with a replacement clutch and pressure plate in the late 1990s, and in 2016 it received a complete front-end rebuild with all new control arm bushings, ball joints, as well as a new clutch master and slave cylinder (receipt included). Stopping power is handled by front disc brakes and rear drums, and the drivetrain runs a 3.71 gear ratio.
A restoration was carried out in 2008, with photos and receipts included. Work performed at that time included paint and body, mechanical refurbishments, and a full interior refresh with new carpet, vinyl seats, walnut dashboard, and trim pieces. The interior and exterior both remain very clean today, presenting as though the work was recently completed. Additional service history is documented through receipts from 1991 and 1996.
This TR6 has long-term ownership history, with the previous owner keeping it from 1982 until 2021, when it was acquired by the current seller.
Included in the sale are the Complete Official Triumph TR6 service manual, the original owner's handbook, a selection of magazines featuring the TR6, photos of the 2008 restoration in progress, and a chrome luggage rack that has never been installed - because each of the previous owners chose not to drill the body to mount it.
