1980 MG B ROADSTER

2 Owner, 17,000 mile 1980 MG-B Roadster This car was purchased brand new in 1980 by a Mr. Braley, the neighbor to the current owner, from Chabot Motors ( a Jagaur, Rover and Triumph dealer) in MA. Word has it that by the mid 90's, the car was parked in a warehouse. A few years back, when the current owner was looking for a different MG, a bit larger, more modern, than his 67 Midget, a friend mentioned that their old neighbor's 1980 MG-B roadster was available. He went to see her sitting in the warehouse. She was covered in 30 years of warehouse dust and grime. He brought her home and got to cleaning things up so he could identify her needs. What he quickly found was that the engine needed to be rebuilt, so that took place rather quickly, as this was to be for his wife, to replace a smaller Midget she wasn't really all that fond of driving. It was rebuilt to pretty much stock specs but has a Holley 2bbl down draft carb sitting on a Pierce intake and exhaust header. The body is rot free but does show some unfortunate warehouse damage such as a couple of small dings and the dreaded rear boot lid crack. She would do really well with a color sand, dent removal and polish but presents very well without. The undercarriage is in the same kind of condition, carrying the original undercoat in many places. The interior fortunately staved off most of those 30 years in storage and cleaned up nicely, showing the wear of a car with only 17,000 miles, which means very little. The top is in very good condition with two small tears at the rear hinge which have been "repaired". She also comes with a full tanneu cover and boot cover. All the gauges and electrical bits work. When going through the car, the gas tank was replaced along with a new fuel pump, the brakes were done, new rear springs and bushings were installed and new tube shocks. The original Rostyle wheels were in pretty poor condition so after some internet scouring, found a set of Scott Drake aluminum wheels that appear nearly identical to the originals and had them shod in General Altimax radials in 205/70/R14 rubber, which works to fill the wheel wells on a car that sits a bit higher than previous years due to new NHTC ride height requirements. She starts right up, idles smoothly and drives, shifts and stops very well. The 16,900 miles on the odometer are on the body and interior, the engine has maybe a 1000 since the rebuild. After driving this one a round a bit, his wife really wants something a bit newer, like an early 2000's era BMW Z4 and may entertain trades for the same. Considering the low miles, 2 owners and overall very good condition of the car the asking price is $10,500. Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you!
